40 Positive COVID-19 Cases in The Latest Week of Premier League Testing
The Premier League have revealed 40 positive coronavirus results in the latest round of testing – more than double the previous week.
The latest set of figures come amid an alarming rise in coronavirus cases in the UK, with Boris Johnson revealing a brutal new lockdown will come into effect to keep the mutant strain at bay.
Last week’s Premier League testing saw 18 positive results come back – which was the highest weekly figure since Project Restart.
In recent weeks, a number of Premier League matches have been postponed due to coronavirus outbreaks within squads.
Fulham’s previous two matches – against Burnley and Tottenham – were postponed due to an outbreak in their camp, while Manchester City’s trip to Everton also got called off due to a spread among Pep Guardiola’s squad over the Christmas break.
A number of Premier League stars have also been in hot water recently for flouting coronavirus restriction rules.
Players at Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, Manchester City and West Ham attended parties over the Christmas and New Year period.
