Bradley Barcola Emerges As Chelsea’s New Transfer Target

Published

Chelsea had plans to secure Crystal Palace’s winger, Olise, by triggering a £35m buyout in his contract. However, Micheal Olise opted to renew his contract with Palace instead.

Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s head coach, aims to acquire at least one more offensive player before the summer transfer deadline.

The team from west London is contemplating a move for Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson. They intended to offer Trevoh Chalobah in a trade agreement, but this proposition has become problematic since the defender is reluctant to transfer to the City Ground.

Even though Chelsea might put forth a direct cash proposal, with Brentford’s £35m offer previously declined and Johnson garnering attention from both Tottenham and West Ham, Chelsea might pivot to different prospects.

French sources suggest Chelsea is now eyeing France U21’s Barcola as a potential alternative.

Barcola, aged 20, versatile as a forward or right-wing player, has dedicated his entire professional tenure to Lyon, achieving seven goals and 10 assists in the previous season.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, they are not the only side looking at Barcola with Manchester City and Paris-Saint Germain also linked to the young Frenchman.

Barcola has not decided on his next club just yet, though, and could be tempted to move to London instead of Manchester or Paris.

A number of Chelsea’s new signings are French and Barcola already knows Malo Gusto from their time together at Lyon.
