CR7 Branded ‘Most Selfish Footballer Ever’
Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily criticised for not stepping up to take a penalty in the Coppa Italia final shoot-out defeat to Napoli
Despite seeing a spot-kick saved in his return to action in the semi-final against rivals AC Milan, Ronaldo is unarguably juventus ‘best penalty taker’ and is normally immune to pressure in decisive moments.
Unfortunately for him, he didn’t even get to take one last night.
Paulo Dybala and Danilo both missed from 12 yards while Napoli scored all four courtesy of ‘Lorenzo Insigne, Matteo Politano, Nikola Maskimovic and Arkadiusz Milik – the later converting the winner to secure Gennaro Gattuso’s first trophy of his managerial career.
But many felt Ronaldo ducked taking his penalty simply because he wanted to be the last taker and ultimately be the hero by stealing the headlines something which had happened in the past.
Is it justified to criticise Cristiano Ronaldo or overly out of propotion?
