EFCC Attempts to Extradite Diezani Alison-Madueke
In an update from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, plans have been put into motion towards extraditing and arresting the former Minister of Petroleum Diezani Alison-Madueke.
This update was shared by the EFFC Lagos Zonal Head Abulrasheed Bawa. Bawa. Bawa noted that efforts were currently ongoing by the EFCC towards arresting and extraditing Diezani Alison-Madueke to face corruption charges in Nigeria.
Bawa had disclosed this in an interview with “Your View” on TVC while responding to questions on the EFCC’s efforts towards extraditing the former minister.
Bawa said, “We are working on Diezani’s extradition. We have recovered over $80m properties. The matter is ongoing, and we would ensure she would be prosecuted.”
“Law enforcement agencies in the country are working to ensure she is prosecuted,” he continued.
The former minister believed to be hiding out in the United Kingdom is currently being investigated by the EFCC for alleged money laundering running into billions of dollars.
Justice Valentine Ashi of the Federal Capital Territory High Court had given an order to the EFCC, Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Police calling for her arrest.
