High Anticipation As Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Set To Deliver Verdict On September 6
The judgment day for the three petitions challenging the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the victor in the 2023 presidential election has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Umar Mohammed Bangari, the Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, conveyed this information to journalists on Monday, September 4. He assured the public that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted delivery of the verdict in these three petitions.
It is worth noting that the Labour Party (LP), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), along with their respective presidential candidates, had filed petitions with the tribunal, seeking to annul the election results that declared President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
Furthermore, election tribunals in 25 states are also set to deliver judgments on various governorship, National Assembly, and state assembly election petitions. These judgments come in the wake of disputes arising from the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in no fewer than 25 states, where elections were conducted out of the 28 states involved. The outcomes of these legal proceedings will undoubtedly have significant implications for the nation’s political landscape and governance.
