In-Law Beaten To Death By House Wife And Son
In Benue State, a 40-year-old housewife named Charity Upev and her son Tertsea have been remanded in custody for allegedly killing their in-law Fanen by beating him to death over meat.
Charity and her son were accused by the police of criminal conspiracy and negligent homicide.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Roseline Iyorshe of Makurdi? The court rejected their argument, postponed consideration of the subject until February 8, and transferred the case file.
The Divisional Police Officer of the “E” Division Police Station in Makurdi received information that Charity and her son had assaulted Fanen, her in-law who was residing with her, on January 24. This information was presented to the court earlier by the prosecution’s attorney, Inspector Jonah Uletu.
The prosecutor said Charity claimed that her in-law stole meat from her pot of soup.
The police said Fanen became unconscious as a result of the beating and was rushed to a hospital, but died while receiving treatment.
The offence, the prosecutor said, contravened sections 97 and 222 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue, 2004.
