Kaduna Court Orders Wife Seeking Divorce To Return N80k Dowry Received
Fatima Muhammad, a divorce-seeking lady, was ordered on Thursday by Kaduna Sharia Court Judge Muhammad Adamu-Shehu to repay the N80,000 dowry she received in exchange for a divorce, according to NAN.
The court’s decision was made by Adamu-Shehu, who also urged her to bring a new lawsuit to obtain custody of their sole three-year-old child.
The woman had already informed the court that she had lost interest in the marriage and was prepared to abide by whatever orders made.
“I am tired of the union and I can not be an obedient wife to him. I prayed the court to grant me custody of our three-year-old daughter.” Fatima said.
However, the defendant, through his counsel, L.R Ibrahim, said that he still loved his wife and wanted to keep their relationship and prayed the court to give him more time to settle out of court.
