Lagos Lottery Company Denies Man His N72M Winning
Sunday Nwachukwu, a businessman, won N72,700,000 in a lottery, but Green Lotto refused to pay him because of some anomalies.
Green Lotto’s agent, Charles Akhenanen, and Mr. Nwachukwu were brought before the Tafawa Balewa Square branch of the Lagos State High Court when the latter refused to pay Mr. Nwachukwu his winnings of N72,700,000.
Last Thursday, the complainant appeared before Justice Modupe Nicol-Clay to give a testimony. He claimed that on January 29, 2021, he wagered N330,000 on a game and won, but the firm refused to pay him.
Akhenanen and the company were charged with stealing N72,700,000.
Imoudu Asekhame, the organization’s head of brand and marketing communications, stated in a statement that Green Lotto’s Automatic and Fraud Detection Policy Monitor had found abnormalities in Nwachukwu’s play.
“It is crucial to note that sometime in 2019, Sunday Nwachukwu won the sum of N58,800,000 from one of the games we offered and was promptly paid his winnings notwithstanding our suspicion of some irregularities in his play,” the statement’s opening line said. The corporation then went ahead and installed an Automatic and Fraud Detection Policy Monitor on all terminals since it supports and advocates honest and responsible gaming and detests cheating, fraud, and any other type of illegal behavior.
Asekhame claimed that Nwachukwu had harassed the company’s officers in an effort to get back his winnings.
He declared that the company was prepared to continue with the court action.
