Lindelof joins Ronaldo and Pogba and drops Greenwood on Instagram
Victor Lindelof is the latest Manchester United star to shun Mason Greenwood on social media after the forward’s arrest over allegations of rape and assault.
The Swedish defender has joined other Red Devils’ stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, David de Gea and Marcus Rashford in distancing themselves from the striker.
Lindelof was following his young team mate on Instagram along with the majority of the United squad. But in the 24 hours following shocking claims that he attacked an 18-year-old student, the club’s most famous names apparently unfollowed the starlet.
Now, Lindelof has joined them, as well as Edinson Cavani, Fred and Jesse Lingard, and stepped away.
It comes after the world-famous sportswear brand, Nike, announced it was ‘deeply concerned’ and suspended its relationship with the young striker.
And United’s official partner, Cadbury, has put out a statement to say that Greenwood will not appear in any promotions or marketing while the investigation is ongoing.
However, club captain Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes are in a group of 17 squad members who still follow Greenwood on the social media platform.
Greenwood, 20, was questioned into the night on Sunday by police, who were granted further time to quiz the player yesterday, after horrifying images and audio circulated on social media
The images appeared to show the woman bloodied and bruised and the audio included a voice recording of a conversation between a man and a woman, dated October last year, which purportedly chronicled the woman being attacked.
