Manchester United Goal Keeper David De Gea Express how much he feel staying in England
The Red Devils takes on Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16. Madrid is the city of his birth yet the spanish shot stopper was quick to state how much at home he feels in Manchester.
And spending over a decade at Old Trafford, the Spanish goalkeeper mentioned just how integrated he feels in Manchester.
“I like the fact I was born in Madrid but, at the end of the day, it’s just a city,” he told UEFA.
“Now I feel as if I’m from Manchester, I just feel like anyone else from Manchester. Where you are loved and welcomed is your home.
“I’ve been here many years and, obviously, anything can happen in life, in the world of football. But, honestly, I don’t see myself away from Manchester United.”
De Gea played down the romanticism about going up against Atletico, insisting that the result is the most important thing.
“Of course I’m going back home, to the club that gave me the opportunity to be who I am today,” he added.
“But this is just another match. Everyone is going there to win, especially me.”
