Hailing from the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, he previously served as a senator during the 8th Assembly from 2015 to 2019. His political trajectory took an interesting turn in 2017 when he defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
