National House Of Reps Begins Probe Of Stolen N20 Billion NNPC Funds
A House of Representatives investigation into the alleged misappropriation of N20 billion by some Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited employees is about to get underway.
The House established an ad hoc committee for the investigation on Thursday during plenary after Hafiz Ibrahim Kawu’s motion was approved. (Kano).
Kawu claims that NNPC employees allegedly diverted approximately N20 billion in what seemed to be consulting fees paid to the company’s consultants.
He regretted that the staff of the company were diverting funds at a time the Federal Government was trying to fight corruption and harness resources for infrastructure development.
Kawu said that it is an “unwholesome practice” that affects the fortunes of the country if not checked.
