Niger State Government Mandates Fertility, Genotype, HIV/AIDS Tests Before Marriage

The governor of Niger state, Abubakar Sani-Bello on Wednesday February 24, signed the bill against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and the bill for Premarital Medical Examination into law. 

Following the signing of the bills into law fertility, genotype, HIV/AIDS tests are now compulsory before marriage The bill were sponsored by Niger state house of assembly members Binta Mamman and Malam Shuaibu Liman.

It also gives relevant agencies the legal backing to tackle the menace of violence, mostly suffered by women.
