Non-adherence To Health, Social Measures Worsening Spread Of COVID-19 Says NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has cautioned that Nigerians’ non-compliance with public health and social interventions has intensified public health response efforts to limit the country’s continued spread of COVID-19.

In its latest public health advisory published Monday night, the NCDC announced this.
The institute reported that Nigeria was struck by an unenviable 100,087 confirmed cases, with 1,358 fatalities as of 10 January 2021.

It also warned that Nigeria has seen a steady rise in the number of confirmed coronavirus disease cases since January 2021.

The total number of confirmed cases reported on a regular basis in the first week of January 2021, according to the NCDC, was higher than the combined cases reported in the last week of December 2020.

While the public may be tired of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects, the virus, instead of gaining traction and taking advantage of lapses in compliance with public health initiatives, takes advantage of exhaustion and complacency.
