Northern Cyprus Police Arrests Four Nigeria On Prostitution Charges
In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), four Nigerians have been arrested on suspicion of running a prostitution ring.
The suspects are Esther Montse, 29, Sharon Blessing Chibuike, 38, Promise Ben David, 27, and Chinedu Emmanuel Ibekweo, 19.
They are accused of encouraging prostitution, engaging in prostitution, and detaining people for sexual purposes with the intent to compel them into prostitution.
On Wednesday, January 25, a police officer named Vasvi zbey testified in court under oath about the events.
On January 23, “OA” brought a complaint to the Nicosia Judicial Branch, and the police responded.
Blessing Chibuike resides in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, along with OA, a person they imported from Nigeria in order to enroll him at a Turkish university.
The suspects withheld the passport of the 28-year-old, forcing her to have sex with men in exchange for money.
A search warrant was obtained from the Nicosia District Court, but no one could be identified at the address.
On January 24, the police obtained a court order to take in the suspects for prosecution.
Two notebooks found at the address now form part of the evidence.
The suspects say they are not guilty.
Judge Nil Elodie Çeliker ordered their remand in police custody as investigation continues.
