Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo Resigns As Federal Lawmaker To Assume New Role As Minister

The representative for Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has formally stepped down from his role in the National Assembly.

His decision to resign, which is in light of his new role as Minister of Interior, was communicated in a letter to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abbas.

Mr. Babatunde Alao, the spokesperson for Tunji-Ojo, provided a copy of this resignation letter to DAILY POST on Sunday evening.

In his letter, Tunji-Ojo cited his recent appointment as a Minister in President Bola Tinubu’s government as the reason for his resignation. He emphasized the current importance of professionals in enhancing the nation’s economic growth and progress.

Tunji-Ojo expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for the new responsibility and assured his commitment to the goals and vision of the current administration.

The letter read in parts, “Our dear country is in dire need of collaborative and concerted efforts that would engender the much-needed advancement to greater heights and I have been appointed to contribute my quota to achieve that enviable objective as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Tunji-Ojo, popularly known as BTO within the political circle, is among the 48 ministers appointed by President Tinubu and who will be sworn in today, Monday, in Abuja.
