Palestinian Football Association Applauds Barcelona’s Decision Not to Play in Jerusalem

Published

The Palestinian Football Association has applauded Barcelona’s decision to withdraw from a pre-season friendly in Jerusalem this summer.

Barcelona had originally scheduled to play against Beitar Jerusalem on August 4, but the match has been suspended after the Israeli club refused to change the location.

As a result, General Jibril Rajoub, the head of the Palestinian Football Association, has written an official letter to Barcelona president Joan Laporta, praising him for the decision.

“The PFA greets Barcelona’s decision to respect the rights of the Palestinian Football Association and of millions of fans who feel grateful,” read the letter.

Moshe Hogg, the owner of Beitar Jerusalem, had stated that he was not prepared for the match to go ahead were it to take place in a different city to Jerusalem, as Barcelona had requested.
