PEPC: Peter Obi’s Absence At Tribunal Sitting Raises Eyebrows
In a significant development, the absence of Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the recent presidential elections, at the tribunal sitting has sparked interest and speculation.
Reports reaching GQBuzz reveals that Peter Obi was noticeably missing during the proceedings.
The tribunal session commenced at 9:34 am, with Justice Haruna Tsammani, the Chairman of the Tribunal, seeking introductions from the petitioners and responders. In an unexpected turn, Julius Abure, the embattled Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), stepped in on behalf of Peter Obi.
On the other side, Vice-President Kashim Shettima introduced himself as the first responder, accompanied by Abdullahi Ganduje, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The tribunal, led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, will deliver the judgment, with the assistance of other panel members: Justices Stephen Adah, Monsurat Bolaji-Yusuf, Moses Ugo, and Abba Mohammed.
The petitions under review, labeled as CA/PEPC/03/2023, CA/PEPC/05/2023, and CA/PEPC/04/2023, were filed by Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), respectively.
It is worth noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the presidential election held on February 25. Tinubu secured 8,794,726 votes, surpassing the two main contenders, Alhaji Atiku of the PDP, who garnered 6,984,520 votes, and Mr. Obi of the LP, who received 6,101,533 votes.
In response to their dissatisfaction with the election outcome, both Atiku and Obi have turned to the tribunal to challenge the validity of the results. As the proceedings continue, the nation watches closely for the tribunal’s final verdict on this matter of national significance.
