Peter Okoye To Drag Polaris, Access banks To Court Over Impersonation

Published

Nigerian singer and internet personality, Peter Okoye, known by his moniker Mr. P, has issued a warning of potential legal action against Polaris and Access banks.

Last year, Okoye raised concerns about online fraudsters exploiting his identity to deceive individuals on the internet.

Recalling the situation, GQBuzz noted that the singer has been running a lottery program using his name, but cybercriminals have also been misusing the same identity for fraudulent purposes.

Taking to his Instagram page and his official X handle on Wednesday, Okoye vented his frustration. He questioned why banks would permit the opening of accounts under his name without proper verification processes.

Accompanied by images of the banks in question, the artist threatened to pursue legal action against them for damages. He also pledged to call out additional banks if necessary.

He tweeted: “Enough is enough. It’s either an inside job or otherwise. I have a name to protect here and save some of these innocent victims. So get ready for me and my legal team.

“How can @polarisbankltd and @myaccessbank allow someone to open an account in the name of “PETER OKOYE PSQUARE” without valid means of identification, no BVN, no biometrics, no verified address or even utility bill to correspond with the address of the account owner. Now they are using my name to scam innocent people. I’m suing this bank for damages @officialefcc take note.”
