President Buhari Meets APC Governors Over Crisis Rocking The Party
President Buhari is currently in a closed-door meeting with some state governors elected on the platform of the APC. The meeting is holding in the State House, Abuja. Top on the agenda is the crisis currently rocking their party.
In attendance at the meeting are the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu; Chairman of Northern Governors Forum, Simon Lalong, and Governor of Jigawa State, Abubakar Badaru.
The APC has been in a leadership crisis since last week after the Court of Appeal Abuja upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomole as its National Chairman. While Victor Giadom, a suspended deputy National Chairman is insisting he is the acting National Chairman of the party, the National Working Committee approved the appointment of former Oyo state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as the acting chairman of the party. Due to Ajimobi’s ailing state, the party approved the appointment of Hilliard Eta, the Vice-Chairman of the APC (south-south), as the acting Chairman pending the time Ajimobi will assume office.
