Rema Throws Subtle Shade at Burna Boy Over His Stament About Afrobeats

Published

Renowned Nigerian singer, Rema, recently delivered a subtle critique directed at his senior counterpart, Burna Boy, during the recent Headies Awards.

This incident is a direct response to Burna Boy’s prior controversial comments about Afrobeats in Nigeria.

In a previous interview, Burna Boy had expressed his opinion, claiming that a significant portion (90 percent) of Afrobeat songs lacked real-life experiences and substance.

He argued that many artists lacked genuine life experiences, resulting in their songs lacking depth and meaning.

Burna Boy further said that many songs revolved around living the good life and having a great time, which often did not reflect the reality of life.

These comments stirred considerable debate and even some criticism within the Nigerian music industry.

During the Headies Awards ceremony, Rema seized the opportunity to address Burna Boy’s remarks, indirectly challenging him for what he perceived as disrespectful comments.
