Ronaldo, Messi, Ramos, Iniesta, Modric and Kroos Named In XI Of The Decade

Seven current and former Real Madrid and Barcelona players have been named in the world team of the decade by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Current Real Madrid stars Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are joined by former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, while Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta make up the Blaugrana contingent.

The rest of the team is composed of Manuel Neuer, Phillip Lahm, Virgil van Dijk and Robert Lewandowski.

The dominance of Los Blancos can be put down to their success in Europe’s elite competition, with four Champions League wins in the last decade: Lisbon 2014, Milan 2016, Cardiff 2017 and Kiev 2018.

Meanwhile, the IFFHS CONMEBOL team of the decade also features seven current and former Real Madrid and Barcelona stars: Julio Cesar; Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Javier Mascherano, Marcelo; Casemiro, Angel Di Maria; Paolo Guerrero, Messi, Neymar, Sergio Aguero.

The women’s world team is: Hope Solo (USA); Lucy Bronze (ENG), Wendie Renard (FRA), Saki Kumagai (JPN), Nilla Fischer (SWE); Lena Goessling (GER), Carli Lloyd (USA), Dzsenifer Marozsan (GER); Marta (BRA), Ada Hegerberg (NOR) and Alex Morgan (USA).

And the women’s CONEMBOL team: Christine Endler (CHI); Fabiana (BRA), Erika (BRA), Carla Guerrero (CHI), Tamires (BRA); Formiga (BRA), Debinha (BRA), Estefania Banini (ARG); Yoreli Rincon (COL), Christiane (BRA) and Marta (BRA).
