Ronaldo Rage Over Penalty Incident
Cristiano Ronaldo was furious at the referee after his penalty appeals were rejected in the final moments of the Juventus defeat to FC Porto.
The Bianconeri lost 2-1 at the Estadio do Dragao in the Champions League Round of 16, first leg tie this evening.
Deep into stoppages, Ronaldo controlled a ball in the box and flicked it backwards, clearly intending to pivot and get it on the way back, when he was caught by Zaidu’s clumsy challenge.
The Spanish referee Carlos del Cerro Grande waved play on and the VAR, Alejandro Hernandez, did not intervene either.
Ronaldo was furious with the official and was seen shouting at him as play resumed and again after the final whistle.
On Sky Sport Italia, Fabio Capello and Alessandro Del Piero said it was “a clear penalty, no arguments.”
Elsewhere, Ruud Gullit and Arsene Wenger on beIN Sports both confirmed they too would’ve given a penalty to Ronaldo.
