Southern Governors Reach Consensus To Ban Open Grazing In Their Respective States
Governors of the southern region have resolved to ban open grazing and the movement of cattle – Rotimi Akeredolu Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, announced the ban on Tuesday after a meeting of the governors in Asaba, the Delta state capital.
The meeting which was attended by 13 state governors and two deputy governors, reviewed the insecurity situation in the country as well as secession agitations and restructuring, prospects and COVID-19 pandemic, among others.
The Southern Governors agreed that Nigeria needs to be restructured to reflect true federalism leading to state policing and a change in the revenue allocation formula of the nation. They recommended the establishment of ports in other states to address the congestion in Apapa.
