Know your Original Street Fighter Characters

The original street fighter characters from the 2D fighting game were introduced at the same time released in the game in 1991. 

The 2D fighting games were solely released for arcades only and there were only 8 characters originally, alright things have changed and modification has been made. 

Here are the original eight playable characters the  game had;

Ryu:

He’s a Japanese martial artist who focuses on honing his karate skills. He left everything behind to pursue his passion, and his only friend is Ken.

Ken: Ken, an American, is Ryu’s best friend and rival. He used to train with Ryu and has a fiancée who sometimes distracts him from fighting.

E. Honda:

A Japanese sumo wrestler, E. Honda aims to improve the image of sumo wrestling and prove that sumo wrestlers are true athletes.

Blanka:

Blanka, a jungle-raised mutant from Brazil, joins the tournament to uncover forgotten aspects of his past.

Zangief:

Hailing from the Soviet Union, Zangief is a pro-wrestler and sambo fighter. He aims to prove the strength of the Soviet Union by defeating opponents, especially Americans.

Dhalsim:

An Indian yoga master with the ability to breathe fire, Dhalsim uses his earnings to help people escape poverty despite being a pacifist.

Guile:

Guile, a former member of the United States Special Forces, seeks justice against M. Bison for the death of his best friend.

Chun-Li:

Chun-Li, a Chinese martial artist working for Interpol, joins the tournament to prove her unbeatable skills and avenge her father’s death at the hands of the syndicate’s leader.

Supporting characters include:

Balrog:

An American boxer with a resemblance to Mike Tyson, known as M. Bison in Japan. He’s one of the world’s top boxers but is involved with Shadaloo for quick money.

Vega:

A Spanish bullfighter who uses ninjutsu and claws. He’s obsessed with beauty and strives to eliminate ugliness from the world. In Japan, he goes by Balrog.

Sagat:

Once known as the King of Street Fighters, Sagat is a Muay Thai king boxer from Thailand. He was the world champion until Ryu defeated him, making him desperate to reclaim his title.

M. Bison:

The leader of the Shadaloo smuggling ring with psychic powers. He was Vega’s opponent in a previous game titled Vega in Japan.
