Tell Israel To Stop It’s Genocide Of Palestinians – Abbas Urges Blinken

Published

According to the official WAFA news agency, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for the first time following the general election victory of Israel’s longtime hawkish Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right coalition.

Friday, according to WAFA, Abbas renewed his demand that the United States exert pressure on Israel to end its “crimes against the Palestinian people,” including blockades, arbitrary executions, home demolitions, and settlement development.

According to the report, Blinken informed Abbas that the US government was trying to diffuse the situation.

In a phone chat with departing Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Thursday, Blinken voiced his alarm about the escalating violence in the occupied West Bank and “underscored the need for all parties to swiftly de-escalate the situation,” according to a statement from the US State Department.

In addition, Blinken praised Israel for holding free and impartial elections and “reaffirmed the strength of the US-Israel bilateral partnership,” according to the spokesman.
