Transfer Talk: Chelsea and Newcastle go Ed to Ed for Hazard
Eden Hazard could be set for a return to the Premier League with former club Chelsea and Newcastle alerted to the Real Madrid winger’s potential availability.
The 30-year-old has had a difficult time since moving to the Bernabeu from West London for £103million in 2019 after struggling with repeated injuries.
He was left on the bench for Real’s El Clasico victory over Barcelona by manager Carlo Ancelotti and has started only three times in LaLiga this season.
After leaving him out, Ancelotti said: “The problem [Hazard] has right now is he has a coach who prefers another player.”
Now ESPN claim Chelsea — who he spent seven seasons with before joining Real — and Newcastle are among a number of Premier League clubs who have been made aware of the Belgian’s availability.
Hazard still has three years left to run on his contract with the LaLiga giants and the report indicates that it is unclear whether Hazard is ready to call time on his career in Spain just yet.
Over the summer, Hazard reiterated his desire to make a success of things at Real.
He said: “I still have three years of my contract at Real Madrid. I like the club. I like the players.
“I will give everything next season for this club. I don’t see myself leaving Real Madrid now.”
Madrid are looking to raise funds as they reportedly chase in-demand Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland as well as their anticipated signing of Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe.
