“Try Not To Speak Yoruba When Addressing The General Public” – Destiny Etiko Advice Her Colleagues

Destiny Etiko, a well-known producer and actress in Nollywood, has gone to social media to encourage her Yoruba film industry peers and supporters to communicate with the audience in English.

The actress, who is of Igbo descent, made the comment in a video that has been making the rounds on social media about how many of her coworkers only speak in their native tongue, creating significant communication difficulties.

Following up on comments and threads of Yoruba speakers who preferred to communicate in their dialect rather than carry everyone along, Destiny Etiko noted the same problem.

She urged them to develop effective communication skills in English or pidgin so that everyone could comprehend.

“I just don’t know why whenever you are speaking to Yoruba people, they will always want to speak Yoruba. Ehhhhh I don’t understand even on blogs. You all will be speaking Yoruba like everyone is Yoruba. You guys should try and speak English or broken,” she said.
