Two Tik Tokers In Kano State To Receive 20 Lashes For Defamation Of Gov. Gaduje (Video)

On November 7, 2022, the Kano State Magistrate Court, chaired over by Aminu Muhammad Gabari, issued a ruling ordering the two skit creators Mubarak Isa Muhammad (Uniquepikin) and Nazifi Muhammad Bala to 40 lashes each for defaming Governor Ganduje on their Tiktok accounts.

Additionally, the court mandated that the pair sweep and clean the No mans land Magistrates Court grounds for 30 days.

“They will receive 20 lashes each, to be administered in the public. They should also sweep and wash the toilets of Justice Aloma Mukthar Court Complex in No-man’s-land,” the judge ruled.

A two-count accusation of defamation and inciting a public commotion was brought against the prisoners, and they pled guilty to both counts.

According to the First Information Report, the pair wrote on their Tiktok account that Ganduje sleeps a lot and doesn’t view any land without selling it.

In light of this, the prosecution requested a summary trial against the two from the Kano State Ministry of Justice and Barrister Wada Ahmad Wada.

Magistrate Gabari ordered the convicted to pay a fine of N10,000 apiece for defaming the reputation of Kano State Governor when the case was read again for judgment on Monday, November 7.

They were also given another punishment of N10,000 apiece by Magistrate Gabari for inciting unrest in the public.

The convicted were then given non-custodial sentences in a similar manner.

As a result, he gave the inmates instructions to post an apologetic video to Ganduje on social media.

The creators of the skit were prosecuted after they were heard criticizing Ganduje in a popular TikTok video.

In the video, they referred to Ganduje as a “corrupt politician” who sold every available plot of land in the state.

“This is a chapter that is talking about Ganduje. And who is this Ganduje? He is a husband to an influential woman and a father to an Arabian. And he is also from Kano state. The qualities of this Ganduje are as follows: He is a governor that loves to sleep,” they said.

“But he has become a suspect in the eyes of the people of Kano. To say a few of his qualities and talents, whenever he sees a piece of land in Kano he is definitely going to take his share. To explain this further, it is either he makes it available for sale or sells it off completely, but in the end, something questionable must occur.”
