UEFA Confirm 16,500 Fans Will Attend The UCL Final Between Chelsea & Man City
Portuguese authorities will allow 16,500 fans in at the Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea at the Estadio do Dragao in Portugal on Saturday.
That number equates to 33 per cent of the stadium’s 50,000 capacity with 1,700 more tickets for the general public going on sale on 1pm in the afternoon of May 25 via UEFA.
Each finalist has an allocation of 6,000 tickets and each fan must have proof of either full vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test. Fans with one Covid-19 vaccine must still provide a negative test.
Saturday’s showpiece event was moved from the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul to Portugal when Turkey was placed on the British government’s red list of travel destinations.
There were plans from the government to try and stage the final at Wembley as both clubs are from England but it wasn’t possible for UEFA to secure quarantine exemptions for the 2,000 VIPS attending the final.
Supporters from both clubs will arrive in Portugal on Saturday with a strict plan in place to escort them to the stadium and back to the airport.
Fans will arrive on a chartered flight and be kept in a Covid bubble, spending less than 24 hours overall in the country.
