Update: We Did Not Arrest Acting EFCC Boss Ibrahim Magu – DSS
The Department of State Services (DSS), says contrary to reports, it did not arrest the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.
Magu was reportedly picked up earlier today by operatives of the Department of State Services and moved to the Presidential Villa to appear before a panel set up to investigate some allegations of corruption leveled against him.
In a statement released, the Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, said Magu was not arrested. The statement reads
“The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim MAGU, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media. The Service, has since, today, 6th July, 2020, been inundated with enquiries over the alleged arrest.”
Tony Amokeodo, the spokesperson to the acting EFCC boss also denied the arrest reports.
According to him, Magu was only invited to appear before the panel set up by the Federal government to investigate the allegations of corruption leveled against him and the agency.
