“You Are Irresponsible” – Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo Blasts Nigerian Men Who Aren’t Married At 24

Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, a well-known Nigerian clergyman, has sparked a wave of controversy with his recent expression of believe on why men should be married by the age of 24.

Drawing comparisons to more developed countries, Pastor Okonkwo pointed out that in many places, by the age of 18, individuals often live independently from their parents and carry significant responsibilities. He used the example of teenagers in Silicon Valley who have already amassed great wealth and are actively involved in shaping groundbreaking innovations.

However, Pastor Okonkwo expressed concern about the situation in Nigeria, where it is normal and understandable for a man to still be residing in his father’s house even at the age of 28.

He stated, “I don’t know why a man should be above 23 or 24 and not be married. Your mate in the animal kingdom has grandchildren, and your counterpart at 18 in developed countries has left their parents’ home, which propels them into responsibilities at an early age.”

Comparing the Nigerian scenario to places like Silicon Valley, he highlighted the fact that young adults there are already achieving significant success. He mentioned, “But in Nigeria, you can be 28 and still be relying on your mother’s support, and they’re still sending you reminders.”
