You Will Only Rule For One Term As You Won’t Win The Next Election – APC Tells Adeleke
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has urged party members to settle internal disagreements and unite to ensure the removal of the current state governor, Ademola Adeleke, in 2026.
During a reception in Osogbo, hosted by the APC leadership of the Osogbo Federal Constituency on Saturday, Basiru criticized the present state administration, labeling it as inept.
Surrounded by APC state chairpersons from the South-West and other prominent party figures from across the state, the former Senate spokesperson remarked that those who supported the present administration are now having second thoughts about their decision.
Basiru emphasized the need for party unity, advising members to refrain from internal conflicts and focus on strengthening the party for the upcoming elections.
He said, “Less than a year after, those that wanted to destroy the good fortune of our state are already lamenting. Those that they put in government in the state don’t know how to govern. They are appointing SSA, Government House Pool; SSA Oranmiyan Newtown; SSA, children; SSA swimming pool and so on. They must be sacked from government.
“When we sack him (Adeleke) in 2026, he will go for three days diploma as usual to learn about NGO after he failed to sack Iyaloja General. The APC is an organised party. Let’s show more commitment.”
Explaining issues around subsidy removal, Basiru, who spoke in Yoruba language, told the gathering that about N2tn had been saved in the last two months after the Federal Government ended the subsidy regime.
Contacted for reaction, Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Engagement, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, said Basiru had a track record of talking recklessly, saying the appointment of aides by the governor did not constitute grounds for nonperformance.
